 Indian Government Today Bans Wheat Export Why?




The Indian government has banned all wheat exports. The decision was taken to control domestic food prices and send in the country's food security. A tweet by the Commerce Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam has explained the government's decision. He tweeted that the wheat export ban will control food prices, strengthen food security, prevent export in an unregulated manner, and maintain India's reliability as a supplier.


 Since the Russia Ukraine war, international wheat prices have increased by a whopping 40%. Both countries accounted for a third of global wheat and barley exports, and other countries were selling wheat as high as $420 to $80 per task. On the home front, wheat and wheat flaw prices rose by 19%. For instance, retail Arthur prices went up to 32.9 R kg from 29 R kg last year. The country has also suffered a dip in its wheat production due to the heatwave. 


For instance, the earlier target of 111,000,000 tons of wheat has been lowered to 105,000,000 tons. The private players have procured nearly 6% that's 5.9 lakh tons of wheat directly from the farmers, which was the highest in recent years. So say the private players and the flower Millers were exempt from the market committee fee and have hoarded huge quantities of wheat to sell in the international market. However, direct purchases from the farmers are not officially recorded.
