It is alleged that Ramaphosa concealed a multimillion-dollar cash heist at his luxury farmhouse. The controversy involving Ramaphosa erupted in June when ex-national spy boss Atafreaser filed a police complaint. He alleged that robbers broke into Ramaphosa's farm in northeastern South Africa, where they stole $4 million hidden in furniture. Fraser alleged that Ramaphosa concealed the robbery from authorities and that he even organized the kidnapping and questioning of the robbers and later bribed them into silence.

 However, Ramaphosa has denied the accusations, even disputing the amount of money involved. The South African president claimed that the cash came from legitimate sales of games from his animal breeding farm. Following this, South Africa's Parliament this week opened a probe on whether the scandal renders Ramaphosa impeachable or not. This comes amid heightened heavy infighting within the African National Congress or the ANC, and ahead of a national elective conference in December, where Ramaphosa is expected to seek reelection as party head. The local branches of the party will nominate its candidates, and during the national conference, they will elect the candidates for the next presidential election in 2024.
