The presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has been handed over to India

Udemy will hold the post for a year until September 2023. SEO leaders signed the Summer Khan declaration sealing the decision. This paves the way for organizers to begin planning next year's summit. Before that, a National Coordinator of the meeting will take place today. It's in fact a two-day hybrid event taking place here in New Delhi.

 Some persistent issues will be relayed from previous meetings like turbulence in global financial markets, instability in supply chains, Kova 19 pandemic, and climate change, and a major focus will be on Europe and Asia. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization came into being in 2001. It has nine countries as its members. Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Tehran became the latest member of the grouping just this year. And for more on this meeting that is taking place here in New Delhi, our correspondent Sidhant Sibel sent us this report.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Seo's National Coordinators, are meeting here in Delhi. It's a two-day meeting happening in a hybrid mode. And we know that this is the first such meeting taking since India took over the presidency of the grouping. India was handed over the presidency in summer conduct, the summit that took place in the month of September. But largely the meeting which is taking place will be deciding the direction in which the Indian presidency will be going. 

We know that India's focus areas will be on counterterrorism trade and connectivity. India has been emphasizing the usage of the Chabar port for connectivity in the region. And with Iran becoming a member of the SEO, the focus is that connectivity leads to trade as well, more trade in the region as well. But by and large, India will be hosting the summit next year. And before the summit, India will be hosting the Interior Minister, the foreign ministers, the defense ministers, and the National Security Advisers. Meeting. And that is why today's meeting, and the meeting that will continue tomorrow as well, will be deciding the direction and the shape of the Indian presidency of this grouping.
