Sources have said that the Punjab Government's top lawyer Anwar Ratan Sidhu has resigned, citing personal reasons. Sadhu was appointed Advocate General by the new Armadmi Party government under Chief Minister Bhagwatman in March this year. He had replaced senior advocate Diaz Patwalia who was appointed by the previous Congress government led by former Chief Minister Territ Seng Chani in November last year. Criminal lawyer Vinod Kai is set to succeed him. Gai will be the fifth age of the state in ten months once he is appointed to the post.


 Sima Kumari of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has won two medals at the World Police and fire games being held at Rotterdam in the Netherlands from July 22 to 31st. The medals include silver in individual and bronze in the team in the 50 meters rifle-prone event. She is hosted with the ITBP's Central Sports Shooting team that is based at the Basic Training Center at Banu near Chandigarh.  Yesterday, the Mohali police filed a charge sheet against dismissed Cabinet Minister Vijay Singhal in the local court. The charge sheet was registered under sections seven and eight of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case is being investigated by DSP Vikramjit Singbrar and he has filed the charge sheet in court. Vijay Singha was bailed out by the court recently. On May 24, the Mohali police arrested Health Minister Vijay Singh on corruption charges.
